Yin Yoga Training
Yin Yoga is a slower, meditative style of practice where postures are held for several minutes at a time. Unlike more active “yang” practices that build heat and strength, Yin works deeply into the connective tissues, joints, and fascia. It’s a practice of stillness and surrender that encourages us to soften, turn inward, and find balance.
This January, we’re offering Yin Yoga Teacher Training right here in The Armoury studio, Picton.
What is Yin?
Yin Yoga is a slower, meditative style of practice where postures are held for several minutes at a time. Unlike more active “yang” practices that build heat and strength, Yin works deeply into the connective tissues, joints, and fascia. It’s a practice of stillness and surrender that encourages us to soften, turn inward, and find balance.
Yin is also rooted in the wisdom of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Postures are designed to stimulate the body’s energetic pathways, or meridians, helping to improve the flow of qi (vital energy). This connection supports not only physical release but also emotional balance and overall wellbeing.
Why Yin?
- Enhances flexibility and joint health
- Supports the body’s natural energy flow through meridians
- Calms the nervous system and reduces stress
- Balances out active, dynamic practices
- Cultivates mindfulness and presence
