Biomechanics Fundamentals: From Science to Practice learning the foundational neuroscience and biomechanics behind stretching as well as its application to poses with an emphasis on safe stretching techniques. This session also includes discussion of the joints themselves and the principles of safe movement that help you to avoid injury when stretching. We will then focus on pose analysis. You will learn to apply the fundamentals to any pose using _The Bandha Yoga Codex,_ a simple, five-step process you can use to develop your own anatomically based practice sequences and cues. The first session will conclude with the _Psoas Awakening Series_ of standing poses and a deep savasana. Saturday Late Afternoon Early Evening: The second session will begin with deeper layers and further details of the fundamentals we discussed in the morning. Then we will apply the fundamentals to hip opener and forward bend poses. Together with Dr. Long, you will develop a practice based on all the poses discussed in the session. He will show you a series of anatomically and biomechanically based cues to bring out the deepest benefits while protecting the joints.
