About Me
For Ashima, yoga is a way back home to the heart. She believes that the principles of yoga are an opportunity to channel the inner power and discover the authentic self. As a proud graduate of Karma Teachers, Ashima integrates the philosophy of yoga and spirituality into her asana teachings. Also a trained Choreographer, Dancer and Actor, Ashima uses storytelling, mudras (hand gestures) and footwork to weave in dance movements with yoga. She uses performance art as a tool for social change and empowerment. Ashima is a social activist and an advocate for issues relating to women, at-risk youth and persons with disabilities. She is a certified Life Coach, Writer and Public speaker. As a child, Ashima grew up doing seva (selfless service) and she found that giving back to the community was something she loved to do. At the age of 13, Ashima won a volunteerism award for her work in the hospitals, really paving her way to the work she does now. Since then she has been co-creating initiatives across Toronto and delivering powerful life transforming workshops. Her purpose is to serve and find new ways to help heal and open hearts around the world. Yoga is her foundation and her roots.
