About Me

By background, I'm a writer & broadcaster who worked in Canada, UK, Belgium & Russia. My specialty became science, tech & health reporting. When I returned to Canada, my marriage shattered. I practised yoga for stress relief, but I suffered a spinal dislocation where the lumbar slipped halfway off! My GP advised I'd need surgery to insert a metal rod up my spine! Defiant, I resolved to realign my spine with yoga and avoid surgery. I succeeded a few months later, but didn't know how I'd resume my career when the freelance writers' market collapsed. I meditated for 21 days searching for divine inspiration. That's when quietly, I received guidance, "Become a yoga teacher."
That's when an opportunity to help edit a textbook with a Vancouver gerontologist appeared. The text was for an academy qualifying businesses serving older adults. From this work, I attained their certification to work with seniors. This led to my development of adaptations for seniors to do seated yoga when there was little to nothing yet available in Toronto. I found several venues, senior community centres, retirement facilities and a 40+ health club, and was invited to do a few demo or speaking opportunities.
My current mission is to improve people's healthspan through yoga education, since our national system is under intense strain. Further, I want to tackle the climate crisis through better understanding with interconnectedness of communities, that we are part of the Earth and the Universe.
