Pranayama

June 08, 2025@2:18:PM

Pranayama is the practice of breath control in yoga. The word comes from Sanskrit: “prana” meaning life force or vital energy, and “ayama” meaning extension or control. Pranayama involves various breathing techniques that regulate the flow of prana in the body, promoting physical vitality, mental clarity, and emotional balance. Practices can range from calming (like Nadi Shodhana, alternate nostril breathing) to energizing (like Kapalabhati, skull-shining breath). Pranayama is often used to prepare the mind for meditation and deepen the overall yoga practice.
