Who are we at The Loft and the Courageous Heart School of Yoga?
At the The Loft and in the Courageous Heart School of Yoga we are more than a yoga studio and school. We are a community where yoga, belonging, and healing happen. We offer different modalities of yoga, workshops, retreats, and holistic health options both in person and online. Our studio and community are beautiful. A place of refuge, peace, and nonjudgement. Our teachers are here to hold space for your definition of whole-hearted courageous living.

Course Outline
1. Anatomy, Physiology, and Energy Systems and Bodies:
Students will articulate the functions of the bones.
Students will articulate the functions of the muscles specific to flexing and extending, lateral movement and rotation for each yoga asana studied.
Students will articulate the impact of the parasympathetic and sympathetic nervous system in yoga practice and in life.
Students will articulate the subtle energy body through an Ayurveda perspective. This will include exploring chakras, doshas, prana, tejas, ojas, agni, and body stored trauma.
Totaling 30 hours
2. Study of Asanas and Pranayama:
Students, from a trauma informed (TI) lens, will articulate and model yoga asana. The categories of poses will include a sampling of standing, seated, backbends, arm balances, and inversions.
Students, from a TI lens, will articulate the benefits, modifications, contradictions, precautions, and the energetic anatomy and sequencing of each asana.
Students will model and practice correct alignment for their body in each asana.
Students will from a TI lens articulate the benefits, modifications, contradictions, precautions, and the energetic (subtle) anatomy of each asana.
Students will learn to meditate and how to guide meditation in a TI way.
Students will understand and implement the principles of TI practice.
Students will understand and demonstrate the ethics of touch (specific focus on adjustments).
Totaling 100 hours
3. Study of Yoga Philosophy:
Students will study, explore, and display alignment with Pantajali Sutras with specific focus placed on the Yamas and Niyamas.
Students will understand and display Mindfulness Based Practices.
Students will explore the concept of the beginner mind and always being the student.
Students will explore the oral tradition of tantra focusing on the art of expansion.
Students will understand the healing vibrations and intentions of mantra and mudra.
Totaling 30 hours
4. Teaching Methodology:
Students will understand and implement the principles of Trauma Informed (TI) practice.
Students will understand and demonstrate the ethics of touch (specific focus on adjustments).
Students will use appropriate TI language and tone when working with each other and when guiding asana.
Students will learn to recognize, contain, respond, and refer a student who is emotionally struggling or is triggered when in practice.
Students will understand and demonstrate the ethics of the student/teacher relationship.
Students will understand and demonstrate the principles, structure, and demonstration of creating and guiding asana to reach peak pose from beginning to end.
Students will demonstrate objective observation of postures.
Totaling 30 hours
5. Lifestyle, Ethics, Karma Yoga and Business:
Students will articulate and demonstrate the concept of radical responsibility.
Students will learn, debate, and demonstrate ethical relationships with self, others, and students.
Students will explore anti-oppressive practice, intersectionality, trauma informed care, cultural appropriation, and cultural appreciation.
Students will learn ethical business and marketing including abundance mindset, ethical marketing, ethical management and self and of teams.
