School Info

Our school YOGA FITNESS was founded in 2012 by Amélie Beaumont, a certified Bikram yoga teacher, a certified Hatha yoga teacher (intermediate and advanced), a certified yin yoga teacher, a certified vinyasa prana flow teacher and a certified air yoga teacher. Former radio and television reporter for CBC, Amélie left his journalistic functions in 2012 in order to devote herself full time to the study and teaching of yoga. Amelie opened her first Yoga Fitness studio in 2013, her second in 2014 and her third in 2016. All her studios are located in the Quebec City area. Finally, all the teacher trainings were created by Amélie and are given by her with the help of her team of certified and highly qualified teachers and specialists.

Course Outline

1. Anatomy & Physiology:
-Full training given by the physiotherapist Gabrielle Charbonneau, sports therapy specialist
-Explanation of contracted muscles and stretched in each of the yoga postures
-Explanation and demonstration of anatomical restrictions that prevent or restrict certain movements in yoga

2. Study of Asanas:
-Theoretical and practical analysis of each of the pose taught in the hot yoga series of 60, 75 and 90 minutes (alignment and technique)
-Explanation of the benefits of each pose and precautions to take in case of physical limitations or illness

3. Study of Pranayama
-Explanation and lecture on the importance of the breath in yoga
-Analysis of the physical and energy benefits of deep breathing in yoga
-Analysis of the abdominal deep breathing (pranayama) and the breath of fire (Kapalabhati)

4. Study of Energy Systems
-The energy systems will be covered in our anatomy and physiology component of the curriculum.

5. Study of Energy Bodie
-Analysis of the Chakras and understanding which postures effect which Chakras

6. Yoga Philosophy
-Lectures on the philosophy of Bishnu Ghosh (Brother of Yogananda) and his vision of the practice of yoga and fitness
-Lectures and analysis of the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali and the Bhagavad Gita

4.Autobiography of a yogi of Yogananda

7. Teaching Methodology:
-Lectures on Self Expression/Voice, Energetic and Teaching Techniques
-Weekly group sessions and weekly mentorship on teaching methodology
-Each student must teach 3-4 poses per week in front of the group.

8. Graduation criteria:
-Attend a training of first aid and succeed it
-Pass the anatomy exam with a minimum score of 70%
-Pass the knowledge test of hot yoga with a minimum of 70 %
-Pass the knowledge test of anatomy with a minimum score of 70%
-Pass a 3 practical exams with a minimum of 70 % (The students must be able to teach a full hot yoga class of 60, 75 and 90 minutes.)

9. Next teacher training:
-Our next teacher training will be held in 2019 in our training center in Quebec city.
-Lasting 24 days, it allows the students to fully integrate new knowledge.
-This is the tenth hot yoga training of 200 hours we offer.
