Five Week Afterwork Kosha Themed YTT Sept-Oct 2015

Submitted by Heat to Heal (TM) on August 13, 2015@3:29:PM

Finding our inner path to understanding comes through recognizing all the depths within us. This special After Work Evening Yoga Teacher Training follows the theme of the Five Sheaths - or Koshas - in the yogic tradition. We incorporate our evening and Saturday public classes into this training to mix teaching and learning in a studio setting while adding in lovely lectures and workshop sessions to fully explore yoga from the outside in. All three wonderful Heat to Heal Modules (Philosophy, Anatomy, and Teaching) are included in this training. Even if you aren't planning on becoming a yoga teacher, this is five weeks that will change the way you look at life and yourself!

Want to live and experience our lovely Oceanside area of Qualicum Beach, Parksville, and surrounding areas and have an in-depth yoga experience!! Come and stay at Heat to Heal (shared lodging), attend some of our public studio classes during the day and our special trainings in the evenings - then take the rest of the day to explore!!!

Monday-Friday 5:30-10:00pm
Saturday 7:30-3:00
Plus Six Hours per week Special Meditation Project

Week 1: 14-19 September 2015
Anna-Maya-Kosha (Body)
This week focuses on understanding our body sheath through exploring asana (postures) from proper alignment and safety. We introduce the basic postures used in all standard yoga classes from opening postures, standing, seated, inversions, and closing postures. We also introduce the chakra system as it relates to our bodies.

Week 2: 21-26 September
Prana-Maya-Kosa (Sheath of Life Energy)
We continue our study of yoga postures and chakras throughout this week. We introduce the history of yoga, the eight limbs of yoga, and the yogic scriptures. Of utmost importance in this week is the concept of breath and all things that sustain life (such as rest, food, exercise, love, and spirituality).

Week 3: 28 September to 03 October 2015
Mano-Maya-Kosha (Sheath of Lower Mental Functions)
In this week we explore the notions of thought and how thought and our body functions (including breath) fit together. We conclude the philosophy section of our training and shift our awareness to yoga anatomy and practice. We continue our focus of yoga asana (posture) through the anatomical lens and apply previous knowledge to our ever changing daily life.

Week 4: 05-10 October 2015
Vijnana-Maya-Kosha (Sheath of Understanding)
By this fourth week of our training and moving into a solid yoga practice and lifestyle, we see of shift in our understanding and are able to make connections between our knowledge and how to teach in a classroom. We conclude our anatomy lessons and explore the theory of teaching and learning.

Week 5: 12-17 October 2015
Ananda-Maya-Kosha (Sheath of Bliss)
By this point in our training we are recognizing those moments of bliss. We pull together all that we've learned through the process and transfer it into the classroom with practice teaching as well as exploring special conditions that appear in every classroom and with every person. We conclude the week with our overall review, exam, and final celebratory session unique to our particular group of learners.
