About Me

My name is Arielle (she/her) and I was born and raised on Treaty 6 territory in Edmonton, Canada. I began practicing yoga in 2012 as a way to maintain my flexibility and strength after a 13 year stint as a ballet dancer. As my physical practice deepened, so did my mental dependence on the healing power of yoga as I struggled with depression, anxiety and body dysmorphia through most of my twenties.

Two life-changing trips — five months of backpacking South America in 2016 and a yoga retreat in Costa Rica in 2018 — cemented my desire to be a healer and bring the full breadth of this practice to my family and friends. When COVID-19 hit in 2020 and the possibility of a planned in-person training abroad was eliminated, I enrolled in the Uplifted Yoga 200 hour online training, a registered school with Yoga Alliance with a strong focus on alignment in Hatha and Vinyasa yoga. I have also completed 30 hours of specialty Yin Yoga training from Yoga With Kassandra, and working on further training in pre- and post-natal yoga.

My mission is to help people get curious about the physical and spiritual practice of yoga while making it accessible and fun. The fitness industry can be an alienating place, so through striking out on my own as a yoga teacher I hope to provide a kinder and more accepting space for those who are disillusioned by the current “yoga fitness” landscape. I maintain a collaborative approach and am always open to feedback on how the space I hold for my students could be better. Navigating through life can be awkward and uncomfortable, but through this healing practice, we can do it together. “Let’s choose awkward, brave and kind. And let’s choose each other.”

About My Service

I offer in-studio yoga classes three times a week at Joy Collective, located in downtown Edmonton.

I am also available for private classes (including pre-natal) and events.
