My wife Nicky Poulin and I started our first studio over 20 years ago, and have been in continuous operation since. With her guidance and pedigree of being taught in India I began my practice of yoga and progressed to teaching various classes. I have decades of teaching experience with over 25 years of martial arts practice and teaching, and now adding to that another 16 years of teaching yoga. I have professional teaching experience in both private sector and the Ontario College system, giving me a sound foundation in Pedagogy (the science of teaching). Helping people is my passion.
Along with this I have been a natural health practitioner for over 18 years. I am one of Canada's most experienced and certified Myofascial Release Therapists (Walt Fritz, Tom Myers, John Barnes, and Erik Dalton). I am Certified in Eastern Wholistic practices,, Shiatsu, and Tui na. Additionally I am a CHEK institute certified HLC2 combining yoga along with other systems to help people address their wellness imbalance.
About My Service
I have been teaching regular classes at our studio (Ohana Yoga & Wellness Centre and our previous studio) for over 16 years (est. 9000hrs+ teaching yoga and related). Classes taught have been hatha, restorative, yoga for men, yoga and Swiss ball, yoga with weights, and I am one of Canada's first certified suspension yoga teachers. Certified along with Trixie Montanile of the Flying Yogi. My background in kinesiology, anatomy, and eastern holistic practices brings a unique depth to my teachings. With all of this combined, you can expect a focus on the mind body connection, helping you to maximize the efficiency of movement and thought.
